Mr. and Mrs. Preteau

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Preteau!

We met Casey & Alan last year at Rotary Park for their engagement pictures, and right away we knew that theses guys were going to be a laid back and fun couple to work with.

I started out the day by joining Casey and her bridesmaids at Hair Candy, the hair salon in Pipestone, MN. The hair stylists did a great job, and Casey’s up do was gorgeous!

When everyone’s hair and makeup was perfect, we headed to the Hiawatha Lodge in Pipestone, where the wedding ceremony and reception was taking place. The couple promised that we’d fall in love with the outdoor space, and indoor venue. They were right! Their outdoor ceremony took place by a small, beautiful lake. Their wedding reception was inside a lovely building with stone walls and large windows. The entire venue is surrounded by tall grass, and trees.

I managed to snap a few pictures of the wedding details including the wedding dress, and the bride’s bouquet. I love how Casey’s flowers pop in each picture!

When the groom arrived, we found a shady spot under some old oak trees. It was the perfect place to capture their first look. The soon-to-be newlyweds even wanted their puppy Dungery to be a part of their special first look. It was super cute!

After the first look, we snuck in some wedding photos of the good looking couple. Luckily, the weather decided to cooperate and make sure that their wedding day wasn’t too hot.

I loved the outdoor space. The tall grass and shady trees helped keep the entire wedding party cool, and made their pictures look amazing. This group of people really loved to have fun, and I think that shows in their bridal party photos!

After finishing pictures with the Bridal Party, it was time for the ceremony. I love outdoor ceremonies like this with such a beautiful view, and with the couple looking so lovingly at each other. Drysen provided a subtle sound system to allow the guests to hear the ceremony without distracting from the natural beauty of the wedding.

After the ceremony, the wedding party and the couple left on a trailer to have some fun while the guest relaxed and had some delicious appetizers.  The reception was decorated so well, with a beautiful variety of centerpieces at each table. There’s something super special about these decorations. After their wedding, Casey & Alan opened Bride to Bride Consignment in Sioux Falls. You can find their wedding decorations, as well as decorations from other brides at a fantastic price!

Once the Bridal Party arrived from their quick trip around Pipestone, Drysen kicked off the evening with the wedding party’s grand entrance. After dinner, the bride and groom had a great time with their cake cutting, and the Best Man and Maid of Honor gave a great speech.

After everyone finished dinner, Casey and Alan started their the evening with their first dance of the night. Drysen did a fantastic time keeping everyone dancing and having a blast. This wedding was a complete success. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Preteau!

Mr. & Mrs. Metzger

Abby and Eric’s wedding day was spectacular. We met them at their farm in Iowa last year to for a quick engagement session, and for a quick session in downtown Sioux Falls. Right away, we knew that these these two were going to be super fun to be around. We quickly became super excited for the Metzger Wedding.

An engaged couple stares into each other eyes

The wedding day started for me by taking pictures of the wedding party at the Christian Reformed Church in Inwood Iowa. Abby and Eric reserved a few rooms at the church so everyone could get ready for the day without needing to drive anywhere. I spent the morning capturing the details of the ladies prepping their hair and makeup, and of the guys fitting into their suits. Abby and Eric made one stunningly good looking couple!

While the ladies were still working on their hair, I spent a few minutes taking pictures of the some wedding items including the bouquet, rings, and some cute teal bowties & shoes. I really loved Abby’s wedding dress, especially the lace!

wedding clothing such as blue shoes, wedding dress, and a bow tie
After Abby and Eric finished preparing for the ceremony, Abby, Eric, and I met at their new home for their First Look. They decided to do their reveal under some apple trees on their farm. A gentle breeze was blowing as Eric turned to see his bride for the first time. It was an emotionally powerful moment that I was blessed to be able to capture. The love in their eyes was beautiful.

We spent a few minutes taking bride and groom photos around their farm. We found a few trees, a few old buildings, and a lot of laughs. Even though it was a pretty warm day, their chemistry filled the day full of love, smiles, and fun. I loved being their wedding photographer.

We decided to take a few minutes to step inside their house to enjoy a bit of  much needed air conditioning. After cooling off, we headed back out to to take a few family pictures, and pictures with their wedding party. The sky was beginning to turn cloudy, so we hurried to finish the important pictures on their farm before heading back to the church. Just as we arrived back to the church, the rain hit! I guess it’s true about rain & good luck on a wedding day.

The Christian Reformed Church in Inwood Iowa is an amazingly beautiful church, and I’m really happy with how their ceremony pictures look. I loved to see the look on Abby & Eric’s face as Abby’s dad walked her down the isle. After they said their vows, Eric flashed me a quick thumbs up before hopping on the party bus.

The Party Bus left for the Holiday Inn Express in Brandon. Drysen took charge with their grand entrance by introducing their wedding party with a funny fact about each person – including introducing the Selfie King & Selfie Queen! After introducing the newlywed couple, Abby & Eric thanked their guests for spending their day celebrating the Metzger Wedding.

After a delicious meal by Tony’s Catering, the bride and groom cut their cake and enjoyed a quick shoe game. Jami, Stacy, and Vance finished their roles as Maids of honor and Best Man by giving a couple of great speeches.

Drysen began the dance off by inviting the bride & groom to dance to “Then” by Brad Paisley, which tells their love story.  After enjoying an emotionally powerful moment as Husband & Wife, Abby invited her dad Brain to dance with her to “I loved her first” by Heartland. Eric then danced with his mom Polly to “My wish” by Rascal Flatts.

Even Carl had to choke back a few happy tears.

I even learned what the “Alligator Dance” and yes, it’s as amazing as it sounds!

From both of us at 3 Cord Weddings, thank you Mr. & Mrs. Eric and Abby Metzger for allowing us to be a part of your wedding day.

Haley and I used to work together at B&G Milkyway (The best ice cream in the world). I was thrilled when she asked if I would be her wedding photographer. She introduced me to Tyson last year during their engagement photos and we had a blast capturing pictures during that engagement session at the Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls. They’re such a fun and loving couple who compliments each other constantly. It was super fun, and very cute to work with Haley and Tyson.

Their wedding day was even more amazing, even though it was a little on the warm side. These two braved the 100 degree heat and were determined to have an amazing wedding day. The girls began their day at The Homewood Suites in Sioux Falls. The rooms there are beautiful! Carley, one of the bride’s sisters, did Haley’s hair and makeup. When she was finished Haley looked gorgeous. The ladies finished getting ready for the wedding at the Icon Event Hall in downtown Sioux Falls. Tyson and Haley decided to have both the reception and ceremony at the Icon.

After meeting with her father for a few hugs, Haley and I headed over to a nearby bridge to capture Haley & Tyson’s first look. When Tyson turned around and saw this beautiful bride waiting for him, you could just see the love in both of their eyes.

I have to give both Haley and Tyson a ton of credit, because it was HOT shooting outside! These two were amazing troopers to bare the heat on their wedding day. They trekked to a few different spots downtown to get some cute couple wedding pictures. I would love to point out that Tyson was wearing the some amazing purple polka dotted socks. This guy obviously has a great taste in style.

After a few more pictures near the bridge, we headed back to the Icon Event Lounge to round up the wedding party. We took a few group photos in front of the Old Courthouse Museum. That building just makes wedding photos look amazing.

This was my first time shooting a ceremony at the Icon Event Lounge, and the venue has a great space for wedding ceremonies. The venue was stunning, and I loved how the ceremony pictures turned out!

The wedding reception was also at the Icon Event Lounge. Haley & Tyson had a great Grand Entrance where they ran through a tunnel. Everything flowed smoothly thanks to Sieff Style. The speeches were sweet, and the food was delicious!

After an amazing and fun wedding day, it was time to kick off the party with Haley & Tyson’s first dance.  Sieff Style DJs were in charge of the entertainment and did a fantastic job keeping everything hopping. Haley and her dad really got into their groove during their father / daughter dance!

At the end of the night, the couple made their grand exit through a sparkler tunnel. This wedding was a fantastic day to be involved with, and I’m thrilled that Haley and Tyson asked me to be their wedding photographer. This will be a wedding to remember, and I’m glad I was part of your special day! 🙂

Mr. and Mrs. Foster

What a fantastic day to start out the 2016 Wedding Season! We met Taylor and Jordan at their farm in Henry, SD for engagement pictures last fall and ever since then I have been so excited to capture their wedding day. They are such a fun and loving couple!

I started out the day by joining Taylor and all her girls at their beautiful home in Henry. The stylists did such a great job doing everyone’s hair, they all looked gorgeous! Taylor had such a delicious breakfast set up for everyone.

I was blown away by how beautiful Taylor’s dress was. Her dress and the bridesmaid dresses were such a great combination!

You never know what the weather in South Dakota will be in the Spring! It was pretty windy that morning and chilly so we went to the Church for a First Look picture. The look on Jordan’s face when he saw his beautiful bride made my heart melt a little bit!

We stayed in the Church to take some group pictures before the ceremony and they were so much fun! The wedding party was such an awesome group and were so cooperative, Taylor and Jordan have some great friends and family.

You could definitely see that the Bride and Groom are loved by many! The Church was full of excited guests, I think there was maybe one chair left! It was a beautiful ceremony, with the Priest fitting in an awesome analogy of how marriage is like racing.

After a grand exit through guests waving ribbons, we headed to the Reception at the Watertown Events Center. The couple had a great cocktail hour complete with a French Fry Bar!

I was so impressed by the Reception Venue. The centerpieces, table designs, and head table looked like they were out of a magazine. It was a fantastic mix of sparkles, candlelight and flowers. Simply Devine Weddings and Events put together a beautiful room!

Following the grand entrance, Taylor and Jordan began their first dance. There was so much love present when they looked at each other. *swoon*

The reception went on to include a cake cutting, several amazing speeches, an incredible Love Story video by AJ Production Company, and a Father Daughter and Mother Son Dance.

Jason from the Energy Event Group put on a great night of dancing and entertainment. The guests had an awesome time and I had fun capturing photos of everyone enjoying themselves!

Thank you Taylor and Jordan for letting us be a part of your special day, we had so much fun capturing it!

I had the privilege of capturing a gorgeous winter wedding in Elk River, Minnesota at the end of February. Samantha and Michael were so much fun to hang out with for the day, and it was fantastic to see such a happy couple be married. It was pretty cold and windy outside, but the Church of Saint Andrew was so very beautiful to photograph in that it didn’t matter!

I started out the day by meeting Samantha at her home to get photos of the hair and makeup prep. She was surrounded by a great group of friends and family, and even though it was early in the morning everyone’s energy was contagious!

Samantha's Hair Appointment!
We then headed to the Church to grab a few photos of the details before it was time to see Michael for the first look. I was told that Samantha had made quite a bit of her wedding items and decor, and I was impressed! Everything looked amazing and it must have taken a lot of work to put all of that together.

One gorgeous bride!

 The wedding bouquet

I was honored to capture Samantha and Michael’s first look before the ceremony. Michael’s eyes lit up every time he saw Samantha throughout the day, and seeing the first time he saw his bride was extremely beautiful.

The group photos all went very well, this was probably one of the most cooperative wedding parties I’ve ever worked with! They definitely made it easy to get some awesome photos.

Michael and Samantha’s sons were troopers for the photos! They were super cute in their suits 🙂

Isn't this guy awesome?

Super cute family

And the other cutie

The ceremony was wonderful! You could just feel all of the support and love represented by everyone in attendance.

The First Kiss

After the ceremony we headed over to the beautiful reception venue, Northern Lights Ballroom & Banquet Center in Milaca, Minnesota. It had the look of a log cabin on the outside, and on the inside was very elegant and beautifully decorated.

Michael and Samantha

The reception started with a grand entrance, followed by a delicious meal and some socializing. The toasts came with a surprise by the wedding party, giving the bride and groom a vacation to Las Vegas!

After the Bride and Groom’s first dance, there were a lot of guests on the floor with some pretty great moves! Everyone was having a lot of fun, and I didn’t want to leave  the dance because there was so much awesomeness to capture.

Thank you Michael and Samantha for letting me capture your wedding day! It was an honor seeing such a beautiful marriage begin.

Mr. and Mrs. Koski

I shot a wedding on November 1st that was nothing short of fantastic. There were cowboy boots, baby’s breath flowers, a groom in uniform and his gorgeous new bride. Need I say more?

But yes, I will say more of course! I had a lot of fun shooting their wedding, it was an awesome day that was planned to perfection.

I love the extra flair that cowboy boots give to a wedding.  These were Niki’s boots, along with her beautiful bouquet.

Jack & Niki had an awesome wedding party. Everyone was a lot of fun, and they were troopers to smile for photos in the chilly Minnesota weather!

In between the ceremony and reception, the wedding party did a bit of bar hopping and we got some cool pictures.

The reception venue was beautifully decorated. Every detail from the mason jars to the string lights brought the whole room together!

The cakes were looking delicious! I loved the presentation as well, with the chalkboard menu and burlap ribbon.

Jack & Niki’s first dance was great, and it is obvious that this beautiful couple will last forever. Congratulations Jack & Niki Koski, and thank you for allowing 3 Cord Photography to photograph your wedding day!
